HANUMAN

(lyrics by Joanne Juskus & Jason Sage)

See the monkey in his love

Shower power from above

See him tear his chest apart

Ram revealed within his heart

He built a bridge over the ocean

with his stalwart monkey friends

to rescue Sita from the evil Ravan,

the king who had ten heads

Shape-shifting, crawled around the palace

to find Ram’s lovely bride

She didn’t know him but she had to trust him

She had no other guide

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

Jai Sita Ram / Jai Hanuman

Jai Sita Ram / Jai Hanuman

See the monkey in the air

Spreading fire everywhere

Flames erupting from his tail

Burning down the earthly jail

Son of the wind god Vayu

and the beautiful Anjana

He is Shiva reborn

His love has not a flaw

The best devotee, the most loyal servant

the world has ever seen

He would do anything for

Ramachandra and his queen

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

Jai Sita Ram / Jai Hanuman

Jai Sita Ram / Jai Hanu–

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

Shri Ram Jai Ram Jai Jai Ram

seven is the new four

loving is the new war

ceiling is the new floor

seven is the new four

LIFE OF MIND

(lyrics by Joanne Juskus)

I like it I don’t like it said the mind to the soul
take me to mountains that are made of pure gold
give me an arrow and I’ll shoot us across the sky
we’ll look out thinking  that we really can fly

Life of mind
so confined
seems like the real thing
but we’re flying blind

Feathers to fly on made of thin bones of broken glass
sparkle and mesmerize us made of the past
give me a present moment said soul to monkey mind
just rest your chattering come sit by my side

BLISS

(lyrics by Joanne Juskus)

Above below beside within but not without
A crack in every little thing there is no doubt
and seeping in between it seems it’s all about
the daunting and the cry, the anger and the shout

A peeling of the layers I can taste the truth
to come inside and hide and find the sweetest fruit
belonging to the one that is the one that is
come on and dance the dance of transcendental bliss

Boundless and unencumbered dancing in brilliant light
and stepping into shadows mining the black and white
holding to nothing other than our complete delight
moving and flowing, laughing and knowing
the soul takes flight

Along the way you find a beggar and a prince
and under rocks and trees the symbols and the hints
to stay awake and open-eyed is all we need
to go in love with everyone and all we meet

A peeling of the layers I can taste it
discarding nothing on the way; don’t waste it
belonging to the one that is the one that is
come on and dance the dance of transcendental bliss

SKIN OF OUR TEETH

(lyrics by Joanne Juskus & Jason Sage)

Gaur Sri Caitanya bol hari hari bol

Gaur Nityananda bol hari hari bol

no fight or flight now / time to be real

no wrong or right now / say what you feel

no preconceptions / & no more lies

no fight or flight now / look in my eyes

Gaur Sri Adwaita bol hari hari bol

Gaur Sri Gadadhara bol hari hari bol

now tears may fall / & blood may spill

no fight or flight now / it’s kiss or kill

no preconceptions / & no more lies

no fight or flight now / it’s kiss or kill

Coursing through sound to the heart

(Oh can you feel it now)

Illusion and fear fall apart

Riding the waves to the heart

(Oh can you feel it now)

Tearing delusion apart

Gaur Sri Srivasa bol hari hari bol

Gaur Bhakta Vrinda bol hari hari bol

choose love & light now / not pain & fear

though I still love you / the lies end here

though tears may fall / & blood may spill

no fight or flight now / it’s kiss or kill

Gaur Sri Caitanya bol

Kirtan (musical chanting of sacred sounds) has been around for thousands of years, but over time it fell out of favor among practitioners in India. In the 16th century, a Hindu boy-scholar by the name of Shri Krishna Chaitanya reinvigorated the practice with his closest associates (Nityananda Prabhu, Adwaita Acharya, Gadadhara Pandit, Sri Shrivas Pandit and others). He traveled all over India spreading the practice of kirtan, congregational chanting of the holy names and sacred mantras of India, reigniting enthusiasm for chanting that has spread all over the world. The powerful practice of kirtan is meant for purifying the heart of material desires and increasing one’s love and devotion. “Bol” or “bolo” means to chant. Hari is a name for Vishnu (God), one meaning of which is, “one who takes away all unwanted things”.

BE HERE

(lyrics by Ian Hesford)

If I should die tomorrow, I would still be here today
